3rd District Council Member Zanthia Oliver sponsors “Local Minority Contractors Meeting” in Partnership with DelDOT and several City Departments

On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, Council Member Zanthia Oliver (3rd District), in partnership with the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) and City departments that include Licenses and Inspections, Real Estate and Housing, and the Office of Economic Development, will hold a “Local Minority Contractors Meeting” to provide minority contractors with access to information about doing business with the City, State and as a subcontractor. The meeting will also focus on the necessary paperwork contractors need to file to be up to date and licensed to work.

Council Member Zanthia Oliver is hosting the meeting in an effort to grow the number of minority contractors working in the city and to assure that minority contractors have the proper paperwork filed to be licensed to work. Council Member Oliver says paperwork and data collection is normally where minority contractors hit a wall.

“The dozens of pages can deter these minority contractors from applying and from being fully licensed to work in the City. Hopefully, this meeting can help change that,” says Council Member Oliver. “We want to support minority-owned businesses in such a way that they can grow and thrive because small businesses are the backbone of our community.”

The event will start at 5 p.m. in person on Tuesday and will be held at Stubbs School.
