Public Safety Committee Chair, Yolanda M. McCoy, Statement

Thursday, November 9, 2023Wilmington City Council’s Public Safety Committee Chair, Yolanda M. McCoy, Issued the following Statement in Response to the November 13, 2023, Cancelled Public Safety Committee Meeting

“I recently became aware of the Operation Safe Streets (OSS) program and the concerns raised by ACLU Delaware about its implementation. The Wilmington Police Department and ACLU Delaware were invited to provide further details on the policies and procedures of the OSS Program at the November Public Safety Committee Meeting. Both parties have declined due to the ongoing litigation in this matter.Although this is an emerging issue, I am hopeful that an appropriate resolution is reached and that the Public Safety Committee will have the opportunity to share information with the public about the OSS Program and other pertinent safety topics in the future.”
