Statement by Wilmington City Council on Recent Violence in the City

Wilmington, DE (June 7, 2017) Wilmington City Council issued the following statement in response to yesterday’s gun violence:

“Yesterday’s violence, that resulted in a mother and her six-year-old being shot, was perpetrated by cowards who are using weapons instead of words to resolve conflict — and it has to stop! Our City and our citizens must STAND UP and STAND TOGETHER to reject this senseless violence. We can no longer allow a small faction of offenders to harm our families, wreak havoc in our communities, or disrupt our efforts to bring jobs and opportunity to our community. I urge everyone affected by the violence and those working diligently to address it to not be discouraged, but to double down on your efforts.”
