Councilman At-Large Alexander Hackett to Host Teacher and Parent Appreciation Event in Partnership with the Office of Educational Advocacy and the Community Education Building

Event will take place at the Community Education Building on November 5, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Wilmington, DE – Councilman At-Large Alexander Hackett has partnered with the Office of Educational Advocacy and the Community Education Building to sponsor a teacher and parent appreciation event. The event is dedicated to celebrating teachers, parents, and caregivers for their continued dedication to the success, growth, and well-being of Wilmington’s youth.

The event will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Community Education Building Youth Development Center, 315 E. 12th St., Wilmington, DE.

“When it comes to Wilmington’s students, it is important that our teachers and parents feel heard and valued. Their partnership plays a vital role in our children’s education,” said Councilman Hackett.

The event will connect families and teachers with valuable community resources. Teachers will have the opportunity to create their own school supply baskets, while parents and caregivers will receive household essentials. The event will also feature food, music, and brief remarks.

“Our Parent and Teacher Appreciation event is an opportunity to recognize the incredible dedication of those who support Wilmington’s children every day. Through our partnership with Councilman Hackett and the Community Education Building, we’re bringing families, educators, and community partners together to celebrate their contributions, share valuable resources, and show our appreciation in a meaningful way. When we support our parents and teachers, we strengthen the entire community,” said Dr. Brittany C. Powell, director of the Office of Educational Advocacy.

Community members, educators, parents, and caregivers are encouraged to attend this FREE teacher and parent appreciation event.
