Compromise Reached for Brandywine Park Farmers Market Location
The market officially began on May 2 and will continue weekly through October.

Wilmington, DE — A compromise has been reached regarding the location of the Brandywine Park Farmers Market for the upcoming season. The market officially began on May 2 and will continue weekly through October, with a few potential date adjustments. It is being held on the paved areas on both sides under the Van Buren Bridge.

The Brandywine Park Farmers Market Details:

  • Every Saturday from 9am-12pm
  • Some of our vendors accept EBT/SNAP
  • Dogs, strollers, and children are welcome
  • Parking is always free
  • The women-only walk club meets just before the market at 8am (@spreadgoodkarmafoundation)
  • Location: 1000 N Park Drive, Wilmington, DE 19802

This decision reflects a balanced approach that supports local vendors and access to fresh food while addressing concerns related to location and community impact.

“I’m encouraged that a compromise was reached that allows the market to move forward while being mindful of the surrounding community,” said Councilwoman Shané Darby. “It’s important that we continue to find solutions that both support local economic activity and respect the needs and voices of residents.”

The Brandywine Park Farmers Market provides an opportunity for residents to access fresh, local goods while supporting small businesses and regional farmers. City officials will continue to monitor implementation and ensure that the market operates in a way that is safe, accessible, and beneficial to the community.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed and share feedback throughout the season.
