Wilmington, DE – In preparation for the hot summer weeks ahead, 3rd District Council Member Zanthia Oliver, in partnership with First State Community Action Agency, will provide another opportunity for seniors in her district to apply for free air conditioners.

Those who are interested are encouraged to attend the “FREE Air Conditioners For Seniors 60+” event on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Stubbs Elementary School located at 1100 N Pine Street in Wilmington, Delaware.

Council Member Oliver is thankful for the new partnership with the First State Community Action Agency’s HELP Program. On July 12, Councilwoman Oliver held her initial event for seniors to apply for the free air conditioners at New Destiny Fellowship Church. To learn more about that event, visit the link here.

The HELP Program provides air conditioner installations to qualified recipients from April to September and also offers heater repair/replacement from October to March.  The program also provides energy education to clients and energy saving EcoKits to help reduce energy costs.

“As we head into the hot summer months, First State Community Action Agency’s important partnership helps protect our region’s most vulnerable from the heat,” said 3rd District Council Member Zanthia Oliver. “From helping families get the resources that they need to keep a roof over their head, to providing electricity, heat and air conditioners in their homes, this unique partnership helps our seniors beat the heat while saving lives.”
