Council Member Shabazz Urges the Public to Support Stormin Norman’s Turkey Giveaway for Seniors and Families

This is the 34th year of the volunteer-driven program that has fed in excess of 75,000 people throughout Delaware

Wilmington City Council Member Hanifa Shabazz (D-4th District) today urged the public to support the 34th Annual NOR Enterprises Turkey Giveaway organized by Norman Oliver. The volunteer-driven program delivers turkeys to approximately 3,000 individuals and families who might not otherwise have a Thanksgiving holiday meal.

Council Member Shabazz, who is an annual sponsor of the turkey and meal distribution program, said the program brings together students and schools, business leaders, churches and other community-based organizations that enjoy helping others. Shabazz said there are a variety of ways to help the turkey giveaway program which grows bigger every year, serving more and more people. This year, turkeys will be delivered throughout Delaware on Tuesday, November 22 beginning at 8 a.m. in Wilmington.

Those who would like to help can assist by:

  • Sending a check to Our Youth, Inc., 1213 B Street, Wilmington, DE 19801
  • Donating through Pay Pal at http://www.ouryouthinc.org/
  • Delivering a turkey or turkeys to the NOR Enterprises office at 1213 B Street in Wilmington on Monday, November 21
  • Delivering a turkey or turkeys to any of the designated Boys and Girls Clubs in Delaware on the day of the event, Tuesday, November 22

Council Member Shabazz today also thanked the others sponsors of the 2016 turkey giveaway which include Food Lion, Jefferson Awards Foundation, Farnan Law Firm, United Distributors of Delaware, Charter School of Wilmington, Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware, Leroy  Tice, Esquire, Delaware 87ers, United Healthcare, Sonny and Pam Vaccaro and the Kenny Family Foundation.
