She is a leader in social service, affordable housing, economic development and community revitalization and currently serves on the boards of Wilmington Placemakers and Y Innovations and was a founding board member for Faithful Friends.

The Committee of the Whole of Wilmington City Council, chaired by the President shall be charged with recommending a candidate to fill the council vacancy in accordance with the requirements outlined in the City Charter section 2-34.
The next step in this process is for President Hanifa Shabazz to convene a Committee of the Whole meeting to review the credentials of each applicant and to interview them. This meeting has been scheduled for August 23, 2019.
