CITY COUNCIL TO SWEAR IN SHANE’ DARBY AS 2ND DISTRICT COUNCILMEMBER

On Tuesday November 10th, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., Wilmington City Council will swear in Shane’ Darby as Wilmington’s  2nd District Councilmember.

Pursuant to Section 2-101 of the City Charter, if there is a vacant seat, the newly elected Councilmember must take office the first Tuesday following the general election to complete the remainder of the current term.  As the 2nd District seat is currently vacant, Ms. Darby will be sworn into complete the 107th Session of Council in accordance with the Charter.

Ms. Darby is a child behavioral therapist, community organizer and the founder of Black Mothers in Power.  A mother of three, she believes that by focusing on community reinvestment, criminal justice reform, and youth development, she, working alongside her new colleagues can improve the city of Wilmington and the lives of all community members.

The swearing in ceremony will be live broadcast on WITN Comcast Channel 22 as well as on WITN22’s Facebook and YouTube  pages.
