Council Member Shané Darby Encourages Wilmington Families to Apply for Free College Prep Bootcamp
The application deadline is March 30, 2026.

Wilmington, DE – Council Member Shané Darby is encouraging Wilmington families with high school students to take advantage of a free college preparation opportunity through the Delaware Goes to College Academy (DGCA), a statewide initiative designed to support students in navigating the college application process.

The virtual bootcamp will take place during spring break, April 6–10, 2026, and is open to students in grades 9 through 11 at no cost.

“Preparing for college can feel overwhelming for many families, especially when navigating applications, financial aid, and decision-making,” said Council Member Darby. “Programs like DGCA provide critical guidance and support to ensure our young people are not navigating this process alone.”

Darby emphasized the impact of access to structured college preparation, noting that with the right support, students are better positioned to succeed in competitive academic environments, including institutions like New York University.

The DGCA program offers:

  • College application and essay support
  • Guidance on scholarships and financial aid
  • Tools to begin planning early for post-secondary success
  • Exposure to college pathways and expectations

Council Member Darby is calling on parents, guardians, educators, and community organizations across Wilmington to share this opportunity widely and support student participation.

The application deadline is March 30, 2026.
