An Ordinance to Amend Chapter 34 of the City Code to Mandate Lead Paint Inspections of Residential Dwellings and Childcare Facilities

Synopsis:  This Ordinance is being presented by City Council for Council’s review and approval. This Ordinance amends Chapter 34 of the City Code to require the City to employ certified lead-based paint and dust technicians, and to inspect properties for lead.

An Ordinance to Amend Chapter 35 of the City Code to Ensure Employees in Retail, Hospitality, and Food Services Establishments are Provided Advance Notice of Their Work Schedules; Compensation for Late Changes to Their Work Schedules; Right to Rest Between Work Shifts; and First-Right of Refusal for Additional Work Shifts

Synopsis:  This Ordinance is being presented by City Council for Council’s review and approval. This Ordinance amends Chapter 35 of the City Code to ensure retail, hospitality, and food services establishments with two-hundred and fifty (250) or more employees are providing their employees with advance notice of their work schedules, compensation for late changes to their work schedules, right to rest between work shifts, and first-right of refusal for additional work shifts.

An Ordinance to Amend Chapter 45 of the City Code to Exempt Elderly and Disabled Residents and Residences with Children Under the Age of Five from Water Service Disconnection for Nonpayment of Utility Charges

Synopsis:  This Ordinance is being presented by City Council for Council’s review and approval. This Ordinance amends Chapter 45 of the City Code to exempt eligible elderly and disabled residents as well as residences with children under the age of five from having water shut off for non-payment of water service charges.

Constituting Amendment No. 1 to the Fiscal Year 2024 Operating Budget (Being an Ordinance to Amend Substitute No. 1 to Ordinance No. 23-12)

Synopsis:  This Ordinance is being presented by the Administration for Council’s review and approval. This Ordinance is the first amendment to the Fiscal Year 2024 Operating Budget, which was enacted in Substitute No. 1 to Ordinance No. 23-012.  This amendment contains changes to the Fiscal Year 2024: (1) Position Allocation List; (2) Executive and Managerial Position Level Salary Structure Matrix, Declared Rates for Department Heads, and Executive and Managerial Pay Plan; and (3) Non-Union Pay Scale, which are incorporated into the revised Attachments “A”, “B”, and “C” that are attached to this Ordinance. These changes are to implement the recommendations of a recent compensation study.

Amend Chapter 40 of the City Code Regarding Bereavement Leave

Synopsis:  This Ordinance is being presented by the Administration for Council’s review and approval. This Ordinance amends Section 40-336 of the City Code regarding bereavement leave to: (1) provide for an additional day of bereavement leave; (2) expand the definition of family for which bereavement leave may be taken; and (3) require supporting documentation to take bereavement leave.
