6th District Council Member
Yolanda McCoy was elected November 8, 2016 as City Council Member for the 6th District. She is a Wilmingtonian by choice and loves this city.
Yolanda has lived in Wilmington for the past 11 years. She serves in the Human Services sector for nine years, most recently as a Community Outreach and Engagement Manager for West Side Grows Together, an initiative of Cornerstone West CDC.
Her work experience makes her uniquely qualified to build and develop relationships in and for the community, organize events around causes, and execute plans.
She has been in training for years for the role of City Councilwoman, galvanizing volunteers, managing projects, creating community, and affecting change.
Yolanda McCoy understands firsthand the challenges of raising a family while navigating the resources provided by the Delaware Social Service System. And, this experience motivates her to connect people to resources and to create opportunities for parent engagement.
Yolanda has been married for 16 years to husband Avery McCoy, Sr., a native of Wilmington. Together they have been happily raising their two sons in the Hedgeville community.

Council Member McCoy is Vice Chair of the Community Development & Urban Planning Committee. She is also a member of the Public Safety Committee and the Wilmington Cable, Video and Telecommunications Commission.
