 Wilmington Black Restaurant Week Announces Updated Saturday Night Programming at Rodney Square

Wilmington, DE – Wilmington Black Restaurant Week (WBRW), presented and hosted by Wilmington City Council, has announced updated programming for its Saturday, September 26 community event at Rodney Square. Previously announced plans for a nighttime 5K will no longer take place. Instead, WBRW will bring the community together for an evening Car Show & Community Workout from 7 PM–10 PM at Rodney Square, featuring fitness, cars, vendors, food, music, and community.

The event is free and open to the public, with advance RSVP encouraged.

The Saturday night celebration will transform Rodney Square into a gathering place for movement, food, cars, and community.

Guests are invited to bring their own workout mat to participate in a community workout, followed by an evening featuring an exotic and classic car show, DJ, vendors, food and treats available for purchase, and community activities. Whether coming to work out, check out the cars, grab something to eat, or simply enjoy the atmosphere, residents and visitors are invited to experience another side of Wilmington Black Restaurant Week beyond the plate.

Admission to the Car Show & Community Workout is free. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP in advance through Eventbrite.

Please note: The previously announced 5K will no longer take place. No 5K registration is required.

The Saturday celebration is part of Wilmington Black Restaurant Week, September 20–27, 2026, an eight-day celebration of African American, African, and Afro-Caribbean culinary voices and the restaurants, caterers, food trucks, and food entrepreneurs contributing to Wilmington’s food culture. Programming throughout the week includes the BRW Kick-Off Brunch at Oath ’84, Resource Programs with Industry Leaders, week-long dining specials at participating businesses, the WBRW Block Party at Skratch Bar + Kitchen, Saturday’s Car Show & Community Workout, and the culminating Black Food Festival at The Queen on Sunday, September 27.

The Black Food Festival will close the week from 12 PM–5 PM with free food tastings, a student cook-off competition, a live DJ, community programming, participating food entrepreneurs, and special guest hosts Loren Lorosa, Senior News Producer of The Breakfast Club, and Blake “The Brain” Saunders, Energy Producer.
