About “Birds”

Designed with multiple viewing perspectives in mind, including nearby second and third story windows, “Birds” features colorful birds perched on connecting wires against recognizable Wilmington backdrops.

The connecting strings held between the birds symbolize unity, teamwork, shared burdens, and love despite differences, creating a piece that is both visually engaging and meaningful to the surrounding community.

The mural’s vibrant sunrise and sunset inspired palette adds color and energy to the Concord Avenue and Miller Road corridor while encouraging viewers to reflect on connection and community. A hidden tribute to Bob Marley is also incorporated into the artwork.
