Delmarva Power, Council Member Alexander Hackett, and Energize Delaware Partner to Connect Residents with Financial Assistance and Energy-Saving Resources
Wilmington, DE – Rising utility costs can place a strain on household budgets, but Wilmington residents will have an opportunity to access financial relief and valuable energy-saving resources at a free community assistance event hosted by Delmarva Power in partnership with Council Member At-Large Alexander Hackett and Energize Delaware.
The event will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Wilmington Library, 10 E. 10th Street, Wilmington.
Through Delmarva Power’s Customer Relief Fund, eligible customers may qualify for up to $500 in one-time energy assistance, helping families stay current on their utility bills and remain connected to essential electric service. The program is made possible through a charitable contribution from Delmarva Power’s parent company, Exelon.
“Too many families are facing difficult financial decisions as the cost of living continues to rise,” said Council Member At-Large Alexander Hackett. “This partnership is about meeting residents where they are and making sure they know help is available. Whether it’s assistance with utility bills or learning practical ways to lower monthly energy costs, we want our community to have access to the resources they need.”
In addition to assistance applications, representatives from Delmarva Power and Energize Delaware will be available throughout the event to:
- Help determine eligibility for available energy assistance programs.
- Share practical tips to reduce energy use and lower monthly utility bills.
- Connect residents with additional programs and resources designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce long-term household expenses.
Residents planning to apply for assistance should bring:
- A valid photo ID.
- A recent utility bill (recommended).
- Proof of income, if available.
Community members are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and learn more about programs that can help make energy more affordable.
